Mukherjee Nagar is one of the most competitive places in Delhi for competitive exams. UPSC aspirants and DU students fill the roads, and the demand for paying guest accommodation never stops. The nearest metro is GTB Nagar on the Yellow Line, but the challenge is finding a PG within your budget and studying needs.

We searched MagicBricks for five PG listings and compared the rent, deposit, notice period, food, amenities, and capacity to come out with this guide. The PGs are ranked based on their listing and should be viewed before any payments are made.

1. Yugvandana PG for Boys & Girls:

Best value for money deal

The cheapest PG on the list, but it does not miss out on any of the necessary features. It covers the food (vegetarian), and has AC, parking, and power backup included. With 100 beds and open since 2018, it is the largest and one of the most established PGs here. The listing recommends it as a premier choice for UPSC aspirants and offers single and double occupancy for both boys and girls.

Best for: Budget-friendly aspirants who want food and facilities included.

Keep in mind: Food is strictly vegetarian, and electricity charges are not mentioned.

2. Aadhya PG/Hostels (Nirankari Colony)

The only listing with a visible user rating, which is 4.0/5. It is a boys-only PG with options of double and triple sharing; 22 beds and operation since 2019. Food is both vegetarian and non-vegetarian (charged extra), and parking and power backup are available. The deposit of ₹2,000 is easy on the pocket of a student.

Best for: Boys who prefer non-vegetarian food and have a proven track record.

Keep in mind: AC rooms are not available, which could be an issue in the summer months. Food is charged extra.

3. The Bookworms PG (Outram Lines)

The newest PG here, with operation since 2025. The listing describes it as being in a gated society amongst green parks, away from traffic noise, with good security and new interiors. It takes both girls and boys in single or double rooms and offers AC rooms and parking, and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food (extra charge). With just 5 beds, it is a good option for a smaller, quieter community.

Best for: Students who want peace, new interiors, and a smaller community.

Keep in mind: The PG is new, so there is limited history or review data. Power backup is not mentioned.

4. Asha PG (Mukherjee Nagar)

Asha PG has been operating since 2000, which is a long track record in an industry full of new entrants. It is a girls-only PG with single occupancy and includes food (vegetarian). AC rooms are available, and the description mentions Wi-Fi. It has only 5 beds, making it a more personal and cozy option.

Best for: Girls who prefer a private room, included meals, and a long-running PG.

Keep in mind: This is one of the more expensive options here, and the one-month notice period is the longest on the list. Parking and power backup are not mentioned.

5. Home for Female Doctors Away From Home:

This PG is geared towards women and lists students as one of their preferred tenants. It offers single and double rooms, AC, and vegetarian-only food in 8 beds since 2021. Nirankari Colony is a residential area close to the coaching belt, so you get a calmer environment with easy access to the market in Mukherjee Nagar.

Best for: Women, especially medical students and professionals, who prefer a female-focused space.

Keep in mind: The rent is at the top end of the range, and parking and power backup are not mentioned.

How to choose:

Start by considering your budget. The rent prices listed are starting points. The room type you want may come with extra charges, and electricity bills are not mentioned on any of the listings, so be sure to ask about them.

Take note of the food arrangements. Yugvandana and Asha include the meal, while Aadhya and Bookworms charge extra. If you are a fan of non-vegetarian food, only Aadhya and Bookworms provide that option.

Consider the deposit and notice period. Aadhya and Yugvandana only require small deposits (₹2,000 and ₹2,500) and short notice periods. Asha and the Female Doctors’ Home, on the other hand, require ₹10,000 and a month’s notice, meaning you’re more committed.

Match the size to your personality. Larger PGs provide more facilities and a more social atmosphere. Smaller PGs offer more privacy and a personal touch.

Visit the PG before you make any payments. Check the cleanliness, ventilation, water supply, Wi-Fi speed, and house rules. Ask current residents how the PG is.
